What’s your return/exchange policy if these don’t fit?

We want to get you in a pair that fit right, and that you love wearing. That being said, we have to lay down some conditions for doing so. If you are not satisfied with your purchase, contact us within 30 days of receiving your SOLE footwear to arrange for a replacement, exchange, or store credit. Footwear must be in new condition, with no signs of wear, and in original packaging. All returns require a return authorization from SOLE Customer Service. We reserve the right to require a photo of the footwear and unfortunately we can’t offer free return shipping. Because this is an early launch, an exchange may not be possible. In that case, store credit in the amount of the original purchase will be extended on yoursole.com.

We offer a one-year limited warranty against defects in materials or workmanship, which does not include damage caused by misuse, inappropriate use, or normal wear and tear. Faulty product validated under the warranty claim will be repaired or replaced at the discretion of SOLE. SOLE is not responsible for any costs, losses, or damages incurred as a result of returning a product.

When will my shoes arrive?

You’ll have your shoes this summer! We are planning on a July delivery.

Last updated: March 15, 2019 12:54

Are these vegan?

The short answer is no, but hear us out. While these shoes are made with animal products, SOLE uses an entirely traceable and ethically sourced Australian supplier for the merino wool to ensure that it’s cruelty free. The bison fiber purchased by United By Blue is a byproduct of the meat and leather industries–a byproduct that has long been considered useless and thrown away. Animal welfare is of utmost importance to as, as is solely supporting industries that leave little impact on the environment. The ranchers we work with raise bison on open ranges that mimic their natural habitat, where they eat mostly grass or hay free of pesticides and are never given antibiotics or hormones. Essentially, United By Blue keeps bison fiber out of landfills by harnessing its high performance properties in durable, responsibly-made goods.

Are these biodegradable?

The short answer is that it’s not completely biodegradable, but its end-life is far lower impact than your average sneaker. When you eventually dispose of this shoe, some elements we’ve used to increase the shoe’s durability, like recycled polyester, recycled PET, and binding agents will not break down. But the natural elements of the different components will. Roughly 80% of the materials used will biodegrade in a fraction of the time that industry-standard synthetics take. We’re also hard at work on the formula for our ReCORK recycled cork midsole to make it with a 100% biodegradable binding agent. In designing this shoe we were determined to strike a balance between low-impact materials, long lifespan and low end-life impact. This is just the first step on a journey toward a more sustainable future. We’re incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved with this shoe, and we’ll continue to work hard to keep improving it further every step of the way.

Do they fit true to size?

Yes, take your normal size! If you’re between sizes, we recommend you size down.

Last updated: March 15, 2019 12:54

Are these available in half sizes?

Unfortunately, we are not offering half sizes for this shoe. If you’re unsure about what size to choose, check out our size guide!

Last updated: March 15, 2019 12:54

Are all of the materials sustainable? Durable?

Yes! Take a look at our materials list for a deep dive into each material included in the shoe.

Last updated: March 15, 2019 12:54

How warm are they?

They’re warm! While the insulation is light, BisonShieldTM punches above its weight class, ensuring cozy toes in cold conditions. They’re also breathable and temperature regulating so you won’t find them stifling in the summer. Would we take them on an arctic trek? No. Would we wear them on a beach in Mexico? Also no. But we’d bank on them being go-to shoes for most excursions in between.

Last updated: March 15, 2019 12:54

Are these waterproof?

No, but merino wool is naturally splash resistant and water will bead and run off in small amounts. A waterproof membrane would interfere with the amazing natural breathability of merino wool and BisonShield™ insulation. BisonShield naturally retains warmth when wet, so if you do get caught in a rainstorm, you’re not going to freeze.

Last updated: March 15, 2019 12:54

Are these machine washable?

No. To clean your Jasper Wool Eco Chukkas, we recommend a mild soap (non-bleach laundry detergent or shampoo work well) and cold water. To remove stubborn dirt, use a stiff brush or soft cloth.

Last updated: March 15, 2019 12:54

Are these unisex?

Yes. In style, fit, form and function they are the same on everyone’s feet. That said, they do come in the full range of sizes for both men and women.

Last updated: March 15, 2019 12:54

Where are these manufactured?

BisonShield™ insulation is manufactured in the USA, while the rest of manufacturing and final assembly is done responsibly in China.

Last updated: March 15, 2019 12:54

Why should I reserve these on Kickstarter and not wait for them to be available via online store?

On Kickstarter you’ll get the world’s most eco-friendly pair of shoes at a much lower price than they’ll retail for. But more importantly, you’ll be part of the story: you’ll be putting your support behind a product that’s aiming to make a real difference and show the footwear industry that the time for careless, cheap ‘n’ easy production has passed. You’ll be putting your hand up for the planet, to be counted as one of the many calling for something better.

Last updated: March 15, 2019 12:54

Will you still remove one pound of trash for each pair sold since this is a collab?

Definitely! We appreciate all the support and will be sure to honor it in our clean up efforts.

Last updated: March 15, 2019 12:54

Is there arch support?

Yes. SOLE has led the industry in supportive insoles for nearly twenty years. We understand feet and we know how to take care of them. The Jasper Wool Eco Chukka comes with a soft flex version of our signature supportive insole to give you the support you need while maintaining cushioning and comfort.

Last updated: March 15, 2019 12:54

What’s the heel-toe drop?

There is a 6mm drop, which is a low drop by industry standards.

We’ve specially designed the shoe to work with your natural gait and foot-strike, based on data gathered through thousands of foot scans during scientific studies. The addition of the heel rocker means that while there is some drop, the shoe will feel neutral underfoot and work with your body’s biomechanics to reduce excess pressure on both your body and the shoe itself.

Last updated: March 15, 2019 12:54

Are these running shoes?

No. They’re super light, flexible and cushioning, so you can sprint between gates in the airport, or run away from an angry moose, but we wouldn’t recommend training in them.

Last updated: March 15, 2019 12:54

Are these heat moldable like my other SOLE products?

No. The softer version of our signature shape offers instant step-in comfort, so there’s no molding necessary.

Last updated: March 15, 2019 12:54

Are these compatible with my favorite SOLE footbeds?

Yes! If you love the support of our aftermarket footbeds, simply swap out the factory footbed in your favorite pair of SOLES.

Last updated: March 15, 2019 12:54

How wide are they?

They’re regular width shoes, with a unique design for a bit of wiggle room. Men’s width D. A men’s size 10 is approx. 4.25in (10.8cm) at its widest point. Women’s width C. A women’s size 7 is approx. 4 in (10.2cm) at its widest point. These chukkas were specially designed with the toe guard slightly off-centered toward your big toe, to give a unique anatomically-shaped toe box. This allows more room for the front of your foot and your toes to spread naturally. The soft merino wool’s four-way stretch also means if your feet are slightly wider, they may be a snug fit, but you won’t get the dreaded pinky-toe pinch.

Last updated: March 20, 2019 09:32

You offer a lifetime guarantee on your bison insulated products, does that apply here?

No. Because shoes are particularly subject to maximum wear and tear, we cannot offer a lifetime guarantee on this product.

Last updated: March 15, 2019 12:54

Are you going to have more colors available?

Not at this time! Our fingers are crossed that we can offer more colors in the future.

Last updated: March 15, 2019 12:54

How can I get the Early Bird Special on these after all those slots are full?

Find a friend to order with you and order two pairs! We’ll offer the same Early Bird price for orders. Find two friends and order three pairs for the Super Early Bird price.

Last updated: March 15, 2019 12:54

Do you ship internationally?

Yes! These can be shipped internationally for a rate of $29 per pair and we will cover the customs fees.

International shipping is highly costly, but we want to get these shoes into as many hands as possible, so we’re splitting the costs with you.

Last updated: March 15, 2019 12:54

When will my card be charged?

If we reach our funding goal, your card will be charged when the project reaches its funding deadline. If we fall short of our funding goal, your card will not be charged.

Last updated: March 15, 2019 12:54

What’s the scoop on the shoelaces?

Our shoelaces are made from 100% bamboo. Your chukka will come with either a black or beige lace, but if you want to add some flair you can order a red, blue or mustard pair. You can add them onto your pledge by adding an additional $5 per pair of laces, and selecting your color(s) at checkout.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
